Switch medication from fluoxetine to tranylcypromine.[1] [2]
- Decrease with about 25% of original dose every 3 days
- wait for 5-6 weeks for washout
- Start at the first day after the washout period of 5-6 weeks with about 25% of target dose.
- Occurrence of the serotonin syndrome is possible without wash-out period.
- Desmethylfluoxetine has a half live of about one week so a long wash-out period is necessary.
