Adding risperidone to gabapentin.
General information- Gabapentin is eliminated unchanged by the kidney for 100%.
- Risperidone is principally metabolized by CYP2D6 to an active metabolite 9-OH-risperidone (paliperidone).
- This combination of drugs may have possible synergistic effects. However, the pharmacokinetic drug interactions will influence the plasma levels. Dose adaptation is recommended for this combination. [5]
Start risperidone- Start risperidone according to the general dosing advice.
Cave- Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects. [6]
