  • In general after long-term maintenance treatment, the best is to reduce the dose by about 25% every 4-6 weeks. An apt pharmaceutical dose (tablet, capsule, mixture) is not always available. In these cases one should be creative with dosing.[2][3]
  • Another, more risky, possibility is being at a certain dose to use the following scheme:
  • 150 mg/day:
  • Day 1: reduce dosage of doxepin to 100 mg/day.
  • Day 8: reduce dosage of doxepin to 75 mg/day.
  • Day 15: reduce dosage of doxepin to 50 mg/day.
  • Day 22: reduce dosage of doxepin to 25 mg/day.
  • Day 30: stop the administration of doxepin.

  3. Editor: please note that not all dosages are available in pharmacy. So now and then you should be creative.
