Adding Ziprasidone to Lithium.
- Lithium is eliminated by the kidney for about 95%. Changes in the rate of excretion can cause unwanted effects.
- Ziprasidone is metabolized by CYP1A2 (minor) and CYP3A4.
- Ziprasidone is metabolized by CYP3A4 and CYP1A2 (minor).
- Start Ziprasidone according to the general dosing advice.
- The concomitant administration of lithium with neuroleptic agents may increase the risk of extrapyramidal reactions and neurotoxicity.[2]
